Job Overview:
The Construction Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment on all construction sites by developing, implementing, and overseeing safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, risk management, and safety compliance in construction projects. This role involves collaboration with project managers, site supervisors, and workers to ensure all safety standards are met and upheld throughout the project’s duration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs for construction sites.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to OSHA, state, and local safety regulations.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide safety training to all employees, including toolbox talks, safety orientations, and refresher courses.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and safety reports.
- Collaborate with project management teams to integrate safety measures into project planning.
- Lead safety meetings and communicate safety updates to the workforce.
- Ensure all workers are equipped with proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Manage emergency response plans and coordinate with local authorities if necessary.
- Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and implement improvements.
Qualifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in construction safety management or a similar role.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards in construction.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to conduct safety training and educate workers on safety protocols.
- Proficient in safety management software and MS Office applications.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-risk environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, stand, and inspect multiple construction sites for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment:
The role primarily involves working on construction sites, which may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, and potential hazards associated with heavy machinery and construction operations.
